Update 20/20 County Growth Plan that clearly defines "Green-Space" and addresses why and how our County Government is to accomplish this: +/-
- Closer coordination with developer and closer communication with home builders for better quality home developments.
- Subdivisons with underground utilities, curb, gutters and "green-space-areas" controlled and managed by private housing associations.
- Closer grocery stores, elementary schools, pharmacies, fire stations, day care centers, dry cleaners and cafes/restaurants.
Continue the improvement of County Services and infrastructure. +/-
- Resurfacing roads and continuing sewer construction
- Establishing a "10 Year Plan" with specific goals to be accomplished in two - five year periods.
Reach out to small business/retail shop owners and seek their input. +/-
- Working with the Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce to promote more tourism.
- Supporting a museum in the Barnhardt Circle area of Ft. Oglethorpe.
Support the Catoosa County Board of Education. +/-
- Easier access to low cost GED programs and build a satellite campus for Northwestern Technical College/Dalton State.
Support our seniors and keep property taxes low. +/-
- Construction of assisted living facilities and retirement communities.
- Support continued property tax breaks for those 65 and older.
Enact a "hiring preference" for qualified county residents who apply for emergency services jobs. +/-
- Requiring all county employees obtain requisite certification/license fitting of their job duties, responsibilities and salary
Attract new industry that would hire skilled employees, and facilitate the location in Georgia of supplier companies for Volkswagen. +/-
- Continue supporting the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority.
Support our county Firefighters and Law Enforcement. +/-
- Providing at least some benefits for our volunteer firefighters to help reduce the "talent drain" of our firefighters to the Atlanta area, and give them preference for any full-time positions that they may seek.
Advocate returning of all five county commissioners' charge cards.
